Sage (FTSE: SGE), the leader in accounting, financial, HR and payroll technology for small and mid-sized businesses, today announced enhancements to its Sage Accounting plans, placing AI at the core so small business owners and accountants can save time, be Making Tax Digital (MTD) ready, and get paid faster.
Every plan now includes Sage Copilot, giving users AI-powered support to cut admin and free up time. Sage Copilot helps reclaim that lost time by categorising expenses, preparing for MTD deadlines and keeping payroll on track, with results showing customers are being paid up to seven days sooner.
The result is more time to focus on customers and growth, and less time tied up in spreadsheets and paperwork. By surfacing the right insights at the right time, Sage Copilot also improves accuracy and makes collaboration between small businesses and their accountants more efficient.
“Small businesses are the heart of our economy, but too often they’ve been left behind when it comes to adopting new technology,” said Neal Watkins, EVP, Small Business and Accountants, Sage. “By putting Sage Copilot into every plan, we’re giving small business owners and accountants practical, accessible, trusted AI that reduces the admin burden. From cash flow and compliance to payroll and sustainability, Sage Accounting puts AI to work where it matters most so customers can focus on growing with confidence.”
More value with HR, Payroll and Carbon Accounting
Alongside AI, Sage is giving customers more value with fully integrated payroll and HR. By integrating payroll, small businesses can reduce errors and ensure staff are paid accurately and on time, while HR tools make it easier to manage leave and onboard staff efficiently.
In addition, sustainability is also simpler with Sage Earth Carbon Accounting now included in every plan – making Sage the only major provider bundling carbon accounting directly into its accounting suite. By turning Sage Accounting data into a carbon footprint automatically, businesses can track, measure and manage their environmental impact in the same platform as their finances. This not only reduces admin but gives them the data needed to compete in tenders, unlock green financing, and make more sustainable choices.
Connecting accountants and clients
The updates to Sage Accounting also strengthen the connection with Sage for Accountants, ensuring that business owners and their advisors work from the same set of insights. With Copilot embedded across small business workflows and the new MTD Agent for Income Tax helping accountants automate tax workflows from prep through to submission, Sage is giving practices the same AI-powered advantage as their clients.
Sage for Accountants also brings together everything firms need to run their practice – from capturing and processing client data, to managing proposals, forecasting cash flow, and running payroll services. By having these workflows in one place, accountants can cut admin, collaborate more effectively with clients, and spend more time providing advice that drives growth.
“Admin can eat up too much of the week, and with new clients set to need support because of MTD, we need access to the latest tech to support them,” said Andrew Smith, Director, Smith & Co, Chartered Certified Accountants. “With Sage’s latest offering and the upcoming MTD Agent for Income Tax, we’re confident we’ll be able to stay focused on clients where it matters most, while still growing our practice.”
Looking ahead
Sage is building an AI-powered ecosystem where Sage Copilot and its network of Agents work seamlessly across products, taking on repetitive tasks and surfacing proactive insights. By building on the Sage Platform, new innovations can be delivered faster, with less disruption, and with trust built in. For small businesses and accountants, this means less time on admin, more confidence in compliance, and greater freedom to focus on growth.
