Mitchells Chartered Accountants and Business Advisers has joined SMH Group, one of the region’s leading professional services firms with offices across Yorkshire and Derbyshire.
The firm will now operate as SMH Mitchells and will continue to serve clients from its Chesterfield office with the same trusted team, familiar contacts, and personal service it has built its reputation on. Very little will change in how clients work with the team day to day, and all existing staff will remain in place. Fee structures will also remain the same, ensuring continuity for all clients.
As part of SMH Group, Mitchells will now have access to a wider range of in-house services including Financial Services, Wills and Probate, Commercial Finance, and Residential Mortgages. This creates a more complete offering for both businesses and individuals while ensuring clients can continue to deal with the people they already know. Clients will benefit from an enhanced service due to the expanded in-house expertise now available across the group
Andrew McDaid, Partner at Mitchells, comments: “Joining SMH Group marks the start of an exciting new chapter for our team and our clients. We have always been proud of the strong relationships we have built in Chesterfield, and this merger allows us to protect that legacy while giving us the support and resources to grow. What matters most to us is looking after our people and delivering great service to our clients, and SMH Group shares that same approach. We are confident this is the right move for our firm.”
Jonathon Dickens, CEO at SMH Group, adds: “Mitchells is a respected firm with a long history in the region, and we are delighted to welcome them into the SMH Group. Their values align closely with ours, and their team brings a strong mix of experience and local insight. Together, we will be able to offer even more to clients and create new opportunities for our people across both firms.”
The merger will not affect existing client relationships. Instead, it enhances the support available by bringing together a broader team and more specialist advice under one group. Clients will continue to receive the same high quality service, with added access to wider expertise across
SMH Group whenever needed. Mitchells will remain a partner led firm, ensuring clients continue to receive personal advice from the people they know and trust.
The transaction was supported by CMP Legal acting for SMH Group, Shakespeare Martineau advising Mitchells, Mason Thomas Law handling the property legal work, and Cortus providing financial due diligence. We would like to thank everyone involved for their support. For more information on the services now available, visit www.smh.group/mitchells or contact SMH Mitchells at the Chesterfield office.
