The annual Accountex Summit Manchester returned to Manchester Central yesterday (23rd September 2025), attracting thousands of accountants, bookkeepers, finance leaders and suppliers from across the North.
The one-day programme featured 32 CPD-accredited seminars, with sessions on artificial intelligence in accounting, Making Tax Digital, anti-money laundering and changing regulatory pressures. Attendees also had the chance to meet with more than 120 exhibitors showcasing software, services and tools aimed at supporting firms and finance teams.
A recurring theme across sessions and conversations was how technology — particularly AI and automation — is reshaping the sector. Many speakers also touched on sustainability, with organisers noting that a tree was planted for every delegate in partnership with Carma Earth.
Feedback from delegates highlighted the event’s value as a place to meet peers, share challenges and discover practical ideas. “Excellent for learning, networking and growing your business,” said Oliver Eardley, principal consultant at Add People, while Clare Kendall, practice owner at CLK Books, described it as “the perfect blend of fun, learning and networking.”
Alongside the exhibition and seminars, professional bodies including AAT, ACCA, IAB, ICB and IFA were present to engage with members and discuss developments in training and regulation. Well-known software suppliers such as FreeAgent, QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, IRIS and Wolters Kluwer were also on the exhibition floor, reflecting the increasing role of technology in the profession.
The summit offered a snapshot of the challenges and opportunities facing accountants today, from compliance and regulatory change to the adoption of new tools and the growing importance of environmental responsibility.
