The Yorkshire Accountancy Awards has announced a third new category for its landmark 10th anniversary event, with the launch of the Best Use of AI in Accountancy Award following popular demand from across the profession.
The new category joins the previously announced Supporting the Industry Award and Accounting Tech Initiative of the Year Award, bringing three new opportunities for firms, teams and individuals to be recognised at the Yorkshire Accountancy Awards 2027.
The awards will return to Leeds on 25 February 2027, marking ten years of celebrating the achievements of Yorkshire’s accountancy profession.
The Best Use of AI in Accountancy Award has been introduced in response to the growing role artificial intelligence is playing across the sector.
The category will recognise firms, teams and individuals that are using AI in a meaningful and effective way to improve processes, enhance client service, support decision-making or create measurable efficiencies within an accountancy or finance environment.
Entrants will be invited to demonstrate how AI has been implemented, the challenge it was designed to address, the impact it has delivered and how the initiative has supported wider business or client outcomes.
The launch reflects the rapid pace of change taking place across the profession, with AI increasingly being used to automate routine tasks, analyse data, improve reporting and support more strategic advisory work.
It follows the introduction of two other new categories for 2027.
The Supporting the Industry Award will recognise the individuals, teams and organisations making an important contribution to the accountancy profession through the services, expertise and support they provide.
The Accounting Tech Initiative of the Year Award will celebrate technology projects, systems and digital initiatives that have transformed the way accountancy services are delivered.
A spokesperson for the Yorkshire Accountancy Awards said:
“AI is one of the biggest conversations taking place across the accountancy profession right now, so it felt important that our awards reflected that.
“We have had a strong level of interest in recognising how firms are using AI in practice, which is why we have introduced the Best Use of AI in Accountancy Award by popular demand.
“Together with our Supporting the Industry and Accounting Tech Initiative of the Year categories, these new awards reflect how much the profession has evolved over the past decade and the direction it continues to move in.”
The introduction of the three new categories forms part of a special year for the Yorkshire Accountancy Awards, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2027.
Over the past decade, the event has recognised leading firms, teams, individuals and initiatives from across the region, while continuing to evolve alongside the changing accountancy landscape.
Entries are now open across the full range of Yorkshire Accountancy Awards categories which can be viewed at https://yorkshireaccountancyawards.co.uk/categories/.

The winners will be announced at the Yorkshire Accountancy Awards 2027 in Leeds on 25 February 2027, as the event brings together the region’s accountancy community to celebrate ten years of achievement.
