SMH Group, a professional services firm in Yorkshire and Derbyshire, welcomed clients, colleagues and friends to Chesterfield Golf Club on Friday 21 August 2026 for its sixth annual Charity Golf Day to raise money for MND Association and Paces.
Following the event, SMH Group confirmed that over £10,000 has been raised for the two charities.
After a welcome briefing and a bacon sandwich to get the day going, players headed to their allocated holes for a 9.30am shotgun start. The Texas Scramble competition was accompanied by closest to the pin challenges, a longest drive contest, a golf simulator challenge and all 4 scores to count on the troublesome par 3, 6th hole.
The day concluded with a raffle and prize presentation, supported by a wide range of prizes donated by local businesses.
Ross Jordan, Partner at SMH Group, organised the event.
Ross said: “After the rain in the days leading up to the event, and with more wet weather forecast earlier in the week, we were relieved to see the rain stay away. The sunshine helped create a fantastic atmosphere and meant everyone could enjoy a full day on the course.
The greens were in excellent condition – fast, true, and beautifully maintained. Despite the pace, they were very receptive on approach shots, providing a great balance between challenge and playability. So a special shout out to green keepers on doing a tremendous job. Now in its sixth year, the Golf Day has developed into much more than a golf competition. It provides a valuable opportunity for businesses from across the region to come together in a relaxed and informal setting, while giving colleagues from across SMH Group the chance to spend time with clients and professional contacts away from the usual working environment.
Most importantly, the day supports two charities doing invaluable work. We are delighted that, following the event, over £10,000 has been raised for the MND Association and Paces.

BRM Solicitors finished at the top of the leaderboard to become the 2026 champions with a net score of 64, -7 under par. Sickles Siders secured second place (67), with Pheasant Pluckers completing the top three (69).
Jason Skelton won closest to the pin on the eighth hole, sponsored by Principle Finance, while Rob Cooke claimed the corresponding prize on the 15th, sponsored by BTG.
Andy Mackley recorded the longest drive on the 18th hole, sponsored by Global Windows. Liam Hulme won the golf simulator challenge, which was sponsored by Paces.
The MND Association supports people affected by motor neurone disease and their families, while campaigning for better care and funding research into new treatments.
Paces is a specialist centre, charity and school based in South Yorkshire. It supports children and adults with cerebral palsy and other motor disorders through specialist services and Conductive Education.
